Site manager at New College, Oxford Jack Davis talks us through the recently completed works at Grade II listed building 1 Savile Road.

“We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the conversion of this large, historically important, listed property in the centre of Oxford. The existing building was sensitively upgraded to modern building standards including, tiling the entire roof, upgrading the existing windows and doors and installing high grade insulation throughout.

During the construction process it was of the upmost importance to cause absolute minimal damage to the existing building and to ensure that all of the existing features were left untouched. The property which was previously used as a family home will now be used by Oxford University as staff accommodation, academic offices and for the holding of music lessons and small concerts. For this reason we also installed floating floors throughout the upper floors to ensure the reduction of noise transfer throughout.The property is now comprised of 6 offices, 1 communal kitchen and wash facility and 2 standalone apartments containing kitchens, bathrooms and living space. This conversion has given our client a much greater amount of modern useable space.”
